How do billable hours work?

Each task performed by an AI Associate consumes a specific number of billable hours from your monthly allocation. Different tasks require different amounts of time based on their complexity and the work involved. One billable hour is roughly fifty pages of work product.

What happens if I use all my billable hours?

If you exhaust your monthly allocation, you can purchase additional hours within your account at $1.25 per hour, or move up to a higher tier at any time for more included hours at a better effective rate.

What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?

Within thirty days of account termination, we delete your content from our active systems, except for information we are required to retain for legitimate business purposes (such as billing records) or by law. You can request immediate deletion by contacting support.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored with secure cloud providers whose data centers are located in the United States. These providers maintain their own compliance certifications, including SOC 2.

How do you handle data retention?

We retain your data for as long as you maintain an active account. You can request deletion at any time, and we comply with applicable regulations regarding data retention and deletion.

Do you train your models on our data?

No. We do not use your documents, queries, or generated outputs to train our AI models. Your data remains yours. We only process your data to provide the services you request.

Who owns the content generated by White Shoe AI?

You do. You retain full ownership of any content generated through the platform based on your inputs. While we provide the tools, the outputs are your intellectual property, subject to our Terms of Service.

Is my data confidential and secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We maintain strict access controls, and our infrastructure undergoes regular security assessments. Confidentiality standards are designed for sensitive legal use cases.

Can I export my data from the platform?

Yes. We provide export functionality for your data and generated outputs. You are never locked in — request your information in standard formats at any time.

How do you comply with privacy regulations?

We maintain compliance with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other applicable privacy regulations. We process personal data only as specified in our Privacy Policy, provide mechanisms for access and deletion requests, and apply data protection by design throughout our systems.

How do you handle security incidents?

We have a responsive incident handling process. In the event of a security incident, we promptly notify affected customers and take appropriate measures to address the issue in accordance with our privacy policy.

What compliance certifications do you have?

White Shoe is currently working toward formal certifications. Our systems are designed with GDPR and CCPA/CPRA principles in mind, and we use infrastructure providers who maintain their own compliance certifications such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Do you offer custom security arrangements for enterprises?

Yes. For enterprise customers, we are happy to discuss specific security requirements and can address particular compliance needs through custom agreements and security measures.

Are White Shoe AI outputs considered legal advice?

No. White Shoe AI is a software provider, not a law firm. Outputs are informational and do not constitute legal advice. All work product should be reviewed by qualified legal professionals before use. Using the service does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Are there usage restrictions on White Shoe AI?

Yes. Our Usage Policies prohibit use of the platform for unlawful purposes, generating harmful content, or creating materials that infringe on third-party rights. We also prohibit the unauthorized practice of law and require ethical use of the tools.

Is the Chrome extension available?

Yes. The Chrome extension is available in the Chrome Web Store. Install it free of charge and use it with your subscription (Associate or higher). It works on any webpage where you can select text.

Is there an iOS app?

Yes. The White Shoe iOS app is available on the App Store. Download it to access Co-Counsel and your Firm IQ from a phone. Available for Associate and higher subscribers.

What is the Word plugin?

The Word plugin lets you review and redline contracts directly in Microsoft Word using your playbooks, company profile, style rules, and practice area preferences. Available for Associate and higher subscribers.
